Jamie Oliver appointed caterer for Manchester City

Jamie Oliver is still everywhere these days, from his 15 minute/30 minute meal TV programs, school dinner crusades, Fifteen Restaurants, books and exhaustive range of kitchenware and accessories. So it’s no suprise then that the UK soccer team Manchester City announced today that Jamie Oliver would be taking over catering duties at the team’s Etihad Stadium for a five-year contract.

Expectations are very, very high, said Nigel Harris, the managing director of Oliver’s catering company Fabulous Feasts. ”We believe this will be the best stadium catering in the Premier League.”

The Telegraph reports that Fabulous Feasts will cater game-day food, as well as food for conferences and events. Moreover, they’ll be “providing sustenance for the 48,000-capacity crowd at the stadium, which boasts 11 kitchens, 19 bars and 69 corporate hospitality boxes.” Baaah. That’s a lot of food.

Thankfully, they also signed a contract with the American company Legends Hospitality, co-owned by the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. Un-thankfully, this means that Jamie will not get to show everyone how unhealthy hot dogs are by making a giant pile of hot dog filler in the middle of the pitch.
